Re: Bear Huntin Im'a Goin'

Good on ya Knute!
Bear season is early enough in Maine to make ice needed after field dressing until butchering. What are the Wisconsin season dates?
Glad you and you're bro can share the hunt.

Re: 1899 Krag carbine

Hi Jeff
No expert at all, they will be along. Your carbine seems to be late in the first run of the 1899 carbines. There were no rifle sights installed by S.A. on a carbine
I believe both 1896 or probably a 1901 carbine sights would be correct. And as you say a 1901 hand guard is installed...

Re: The REAL Waste of Impeachment

State of the union was inspiring. I retract my "jackass" comment.
He has risen to the job since then. As did President R.R. earlier.
I loved watching Pelosi and her reactions. Hopefully they will all be swept out, or learn to compromise again.

Want to see the "los...

Re: The REAL Waste of Impeachment

Not often I reply to political posts on a gun forum, but you guys are all spot on!
My first vote at 18 was Jimmy Carter, in my opinion a truly great man. He was under cut by R.R. even though he did all the right things dealing with the hostage crisis. R.R. turned out to be a great president. Po...

Re: 1903 project & 'Khyber Pass gunsmithing'

I really like it! An 'old school' gunsmith job. You had the right combo of parts on hand, and talent to put them together.
I especially like the Faux A4 bolt with scope rather than a Lyman peep, a deer rifle for sure for older eyes.
Must have been quite a job to file the barrel, but it ca...

Re: The good, the bad and the ugly

You are right, the overall look is good. And I'm sure the stock crack could be repaired and strengthened.
But the barrel, oh my! I'm learning here, but assume carbine barrels are scarce as hens teeth?
