Re: My 2nd Krag - Late 1903 Rifle in 1900 Stock
It pivots right to left in an arc. The slotted screw is the axle (?) or pivot pin. You can see by the wear markings that the peep has been moved before. The circular indent in the peep face will slip into the hole bored into the rear of the main sight body. You ought not to break anything. It was ma...

Re: Novel folding tang sight?
Interesting, I'd never before seen one. But how about windage adjustment? What if it didn't shoot straight? Windage adjustment would require drifting the front sight, not always possible. Re the catalog listing: Most, if not all of those models had tangs that were factory drilled & tapped for ta...

Re: Friendly skies? bummer insignia!
Also, no armament? And - what's that hanging beneath the fuselage? An extra gas tank. If you dig deep enough, that's probably some sort of unit or squadron insignia. Those P-12s stayed in service a long time, IIRC, through the 1930s, maybe even into 1940-41. They were probably fun to fly and the ol...

Re: Amoskeag Auction
I went back to the Timed Auction pages, all the Lot #s 2000 and up. #2002 was an 1896 rifle, went for $1200. #2024 was an 1898 rifle. Sight was wrong, but the barrel was excellent. $720. That buyer did OK. #2047 was another 1898 rifle, not as good as #2024. $720. #2048 was a 92/96 rifle with a 1894 ...

Re: Interesting Florida Gun Shop
There is a lot of specialized collector interest in rifles made on that machinery. I've always wanted an Axel Peterson single shot barrel on a Winchester or Ballard action, esp. a .22 Long Rifle. If not that, a .32/40.

Re: Amoskeag Auction
After you pay for shipping, plus some sort of fees to the auction house, do you realize a profit when you sell? And then you factor in inflation. I looked at everything of interest to me (not modern pistols, AK or AR-based junk, or shotguns, or just ordinary ho-hum stuff). A rancher friend died a fe...

Re: Amoskeag Auction
There are two auction sites. For the higher numbered items (2000+), you have to go to the timed auction. You have to go back to the auction home page and click on the timed auction symbol.

Re: Something You Can't Unsee
I agree that the present administration is not good for the country I was born in and where I've lived for the last 83 years. I view them as Negro-Socialists, intent upon turning our country into another third-world shithole and destroying the white culture that built our country. But I see our cond...

Re: Stevens - Pope Barrels
The Stevens-Pope barrel was made to work with the regular extractor for .30/40 Krag ammunition. The GPR had an entirely different extractor system, plus a "trip pin" installed in the rear part of the bolt raceway. Would a S-P barrel even function with a GPR action? My thoughts would be &qu...
