Re: Having fun with $89 gun.

Culpeper, what are the dimensions of the bore & groove of your Remington-made Berthier?

My adventures with any of the non-German 8mm rifles and cartridges is that the grooves are usually very deep. Apparently this was deliberate, to accumulate fouling but still allow some ...

Re: Having fun with $89 gun.

Good luck on finding a front band. Some clod cut off the stacking post on the band of my Remington 07/15.

There is a good French Rifle forum over on gunboards. At least I think it was gunboards. My Afghan service provider has decided for some reason to block any site relating to guns. <br...

Re: Educating Steinmayer

It would be very impressive though. Picture it. The lone American Sailor against adversity and all odds charges and takes the 200 yard line and the beach beyond and captures Lake Erie.

Heck, I'll even loan you my 1902 bolo bayonet for the charge.

Dried up? A little. Unlucky? Never. You have a Krag!

Check out Ammo Seek link. Ammo is not cheap since the unfortunate events of the last eight years.

Re: Finally settled on a match load

How does the Sierra 220 gr RN compare to the Hornady 220 grain RN SP?

I have a couple hundred of the Sierras back home and would like to use them.

Re: I hate auctions

I was one of those who bought anything Krag in 2005 - 2007. Hoo. The money I wasted on Ebay and Gunbroker. I think I put the Gentleman in NC grand kids through college. Some of the things like rear carbine sights and some stocks and handguards I know I paid too much for because I was filled with the...

The 30-06 Krag Rifle Saga

The saga continues.

2005 was to be the Year of the Krag. I found a very nice looking '96 rifle (840xx) the middle of February and made arrangements to pick it up the middle of March. I called a buddy of mine over to have a look at it. The first thing I found but did not see at the store was t...
