Re: Norwegian Krag 6.5 x 54 M-S

That is a nice looking sporter you have! A gunsmith could likely reream the chamber even if they had to set the barrel back one turn for proper head space. Remember that Norwegian Krags barrels are left hand thread if you rebarrel!!

Re: Anouther Norwegian find

What model is the US Krag you are looking at? I may have a stock, we might be able to work out a deal.

Re: Anouther Norwegian find

It was not uncommon for surplus merchants or gunsmiths to put '03 barrels on Krag actions. I have seen a few and shot at least one over the years. Probably more consistently made barrels so likely a bit more accurate for a shooter. Should be a fine sporter project.

Pictures would be a big help! I have seen aftermarket conversions similar to your description and I suspect that is what you have.

Re: Question from new collector

If the receiver is marked Model 1899 the it is a carbine (receiver at least!) The barrel should be 22" long, the front sight should be brazed into a dovetail in the barrel (almost invisible) not a band around the barrel. The stock should be 32" long. Barrel band should be solid and held in...
