Took about 45 minutes and three jabs into my fingers using two jeweler flat head screw drivers and one slightly larger one, I heard that joyful snap as it went it place and is working fine!! Took her to the range for 25 rounds. Shot straight and true at 30 yards at the indoor range. No issues fun to shoot just LOVE IT!!!

Thanks for all the info, and comments, the receiver is stamped 1898 (see pic). As for the bayonet, I’ll use it for my m1903, I needed one for it. I will keep searching for that original hand guard
