Re: Handguard Types Question

Thanks. The rest of the stock is in nice good shape. I sort of stumbled over getting it about 2 years back. The price was good cause it came with a M1903 Springfield bayonet and scabbard both in excellent shape ( I needed one for my '03 Springfield) funny how sometimes Lady Luck hits ya. A year late...

Re: Handguard Types Question

Thank you so much for your information and education on this topic, yes it was confusing. So bottom line the handguards have to match the rear sites. What had totally slipped my attention is the handguard on my Krag was shortened. I already knew the replacement handguard I got was not original, I ju...

Handguard Types Question

Looking for some info and have a perfect Krag hand guard that I bought back early 2021 at a gun show in PA, which I realized it was the wrong one, so I have been stuck with it but it was my mistake cause I bought it in haste as it was the only one there. I'm posting some shots of the replacement one...

Re: 1899 Krag Safety Lever Install

Thank You!!!! You are spot on with your post!! I was closely examining the proper Safety Lever for my Krag and also saw that slight bevel at 12 o'clock that you spoke of. Figure it was there for a purpose so I did install the new one at that position and as hard as it was to install its was still ea...

Re: 1899 Krag Safety Lever Install

Took about 45 minutes and three jabs into my fingers using two jeweler flat head screw drivers and one slightly larger one, I heard that joyful snap as it went it place and is working fine!! Kinda figured there was no other way than to play around pushing the spindle upward and getting it to stay in...

1899 Krag Safety Lever Install

Screen Shot 2023-01-01 at 6.30.48 PM.jpg I have a 1898 Krag made in mid 1899. Problem is the Safety Lever seems to be 1892-1894 and it was broken when I acquired my Krag some years ago. The Spring Spindle which makes the Safety Lever lock into position is broken missing the top knob part that slide...

Re: New Member 1899 Krag Rifle

Thanks for all the info, and comments, the receiver is stamped 1898 (see pic). As for the bayonet, I’ll use it for my m1903, I needed one for it. I will keep searching for that original hand guard
