Krag refurbishment markings
On a sporterized Krag stock I own I have an odd marking, after reading The American Krag Rifle and Carbine by Joe poyer I decided to check out markings on my Krags and cross reference them with information in the book, On this particular sporter stock the work in shortening the forend was exceptiona...

Re: Cartage conversions?
I only pushed reloading as it was really the only solution in reducing ammunition costs, and not having enough room is such a common misconception in reloading, I try to push reloading as it is a very rewarding hobby in both reduced shooting costs and a enjoyable past time. I may be the exception bu...

Re: Cartage conversions?
Nokool61 in my opinion well it may seem like the pressure is close enough, the military experimented with a 30-40 krag cartridge loaded with a 220gr bullet at 2200 fps in 1898, only 200fps faster than the original loading, and it seemed like the action was taking it, but then they started to get cra...

Re: Krag Cast bullets in the 21st century
BR thank you, that peep sight on the 1901 sight helps me alot, and with my 1903 front sight it is about dead on at 100 with my peep set to just a hair above 300, this group was set right at 300. But all in all a very enjoyable rifle to shoot.

Re: Krag Cast bullets in the 21st century
Got out and shot a 10 shot group today at 100 yards sitting with my powder coated cast bullets
Any inaccuracy here is mostly me and could tighten up quite a bit on a bench or laying down.- Mon May 31, 2021 12:30 am

Re: New Krag
Got it out shooting today and it shot great, was a rushed shoot so no target pictures but both my cast loads and jacketed loads all were on a 12x12 target standing at 50 yards, BR you were right about the front sight height, I had my peep adjusted to 300 yards and was hitting dead on at 50, with the...

Re: New Krag
BR that is good to know, I wasn't sure on the proper front sight blade height and thought it looked a touch high, I think the sporter was used for hunting a good bit as I found some old pine needles throughout the stock and action and it had a decent amount of fair use through dings and dents on the...

New Krag
Just got a 1898 Krag sporter, 2nd krag for me, I mainly got it because I wanted the 1901 sight and handguard off of it. It had a peep sight so it was priced pretty low, after doing some research it was a pacific no drill peep sight! So I purchased the sporter, it had a cut down rifle stock and a 22 ...
