Re: M98 Carbine help needed
Hello again,
The stock does attach pretty much as you thought, the trigger guard screws secure the action and the barrel band keeps the barrel secure to the forend and is held in place by the band retaining spring. The hand guard is held inplace by steel clips that are riveted in place through th...

Re: Model 1895 Norwegian Krag Cavalry Carbine
Hi Greg,
I have recently taken an intrest in Norwegian Krags but like you I've found little information so I also look forward to what ever comes up here. I would also like to say that if you ever decide to sell this gun email me and give me a chance at it!

Re: M98 Carbine help needed
Hello again,
It seems that the problem was in the translation! You started out looking for information then appeared to reject or disregard it. I appologize if I seemed harsh, but that is how I interpreted your response. Now lets put that behind us and restart.
Model '98 carbines were in the s...

Re: M98 Carbine help needed
OK You Got Me into this!!
You say that many documented carbines in fine condition have band type sights?? Absolutely no Krag carbines were ISSUED with band type sights. Many, many people out there are sadly missinformed by adds that they see by other uninformed people or just plain crooked idiots...

Re: M'96 carbine stock
Hello Don,
Thanks for your input. The thing that has me confused about this is the time frame. As you say Mallory states that " Model 1896 carbines will be found without inletting for the swivel bar plate" but in the same paragraph he also says that they are "replacement stocks pr...

Re: 96 vs 98
One factor I see in the observed price situation is the fact that there were just more M'98's produced. 61,897 M'96 rifles as opposed to 324,283 M'98 rifles. All or almost all M'96 rifles saw action in a tropical climate and many were arsanal up dated and issued to National Guard after the adoption ...

Re: 1899 carbine
Darreld,
I just looked at your pictures, that is a nice looking stock, too bad about the chip. Your hand guard is for the M'01 sight and it appears that the top of the hump was flattened a little probably due to the after market sights. You can get a replacement sight blade from S&S and shoul...

Re: 1899 carbine
You should have good luck with that hand load. I have been using the same (except for primers) for a couple of years with very good results. I have found that the front sights on my carbines have been filed over the years for diffrent loads so the elevation tends to vary with them.
Have fun at th...
