Re: 30-40 chrono

OK for speed. How was the group? Did it shoot to the sights? Did it lead?

99 Carbine

A local gun shop has a really nice 99 carbine in great shape. It is so nice that some one cut the butt stock an added a puss pad. (The 30-40 has massive recoil as you know.) He wants $800 for it. How hard is it to find the correct stock? and at what price should one expect?

Re: My Grandfather Krag found 20 years after he died

That rifle has lickly been in P.R. since the Span AM war. It may have even been issued durring the second war to a home guard unit. What a great find.

Re: New member-Owner of 2 Krags refinishing

Don't go sanding. Use a paint remover, and steel wool, but lay off of the sand paper, you will remove any inspector marks, as well as make the metal proud. You can use a damp wash rag, and your wife's iron to iron out any dents.<br />I do not know how to remove crome plating, but once it is off, a c...

As the previous post states, you have a sporterised rifle. Some one shortened the barrel, spliced on a fore arm, and added a front sight, as well as the reciever sight. Not much you can do with the barrel. If the barrel had not been cut you could have restored the rifle with enough time and money. I...
