Re: Inherited rifle
A question for the experts, since this Krag has a late serial number and date of manufacture is it possible that it did not go in for the arsenal rebuilds? If so it would be more likely to be in exact configuration it was in when it left the doors of SA. Any big step up in value if has never been re...

BR, You did not need to tell him that, I was going to offer Todd444 $126.00 and we might have both been happy.

Re: Security System
The guard geese i have seen did not seem to need any firearms. Always thought someone with reasonably fast hands could grab one by the neck and end the onslaught but have never seen or heard of it being done.

Re: Supreme Court Future?
No need to fake college kids votes. They have been indoctrinated since Pre K. just needed to motivate them. With lawyers attacking trucking companies and green new deal politicians attacking diesel fuel it will be interesting to see if farmers give up planting and truckers stop hauling food because ...

Re: Trust Your Nose!
I just looked at my oldest primer installation tool a Pacific "310" set that belonged to my father. It does have a concave punch designed for domed primers. Every primer installation tool since then has been for flat topped primers. I still have an empty box from the sixties that may have ...

Re: Trust Your Nose!
Two things before you discard the primers. Were they pushed all the way "home" with the proper shaped punch. I think some of the older primers had a rounded dome shape and should have been pushed with a matching shaped punch. Seems like all the ones i have used lately have a large flat are...

Baltimoreed, if you have photos of the build it would be interesting to see how it was done. If not maybe some more photos with details on the mounts and rings. It would deserve it s own thread if enough details are provided.

Re: Build Your Own Krag?
I got to a page on Numrich and saw some of the same photos, I think. Yeah, overpriced and and the descriptions did not fit. In the white to me is finished but not blued. Used in the white!?!? Some looked like corroded finished parts. What would really be cool is partially finished parts in different...

Re: Build Your Own Krag?
How much for a complete set of parts? Would be interesting to look at from time to time. No way would I try to finish any of them!

Re: Krag Bolt-Lug Crack
That last one would be helped by a better close up, but I think I see a finer grain structure near the surface and coarser structure near the center. If so that is as expected with case hardening. The coarse structure in the center lends toughness and resistance to cracking. A denser finer structure...
