Re: Spanish Mauser info
Most likely something he was given. If he was issued weapon more likely to be a 03 or 03A3, less likely a carbine or 1911.

Re: Krag 1896 Carbines W/O the word MODEL on Reciever
Have a sporter 1894 but probably started as a rifle. Barrel is currently 20 inches so not sure. Serial is 9727, stock is off a rifle and cut down to full length, pistol grip spliced in and a higher comb added.

1896 Carbine on Castboolits forum
FWIW someone has an 1896 carbine posted in the Swapping and Selling section on the castboolits forum. Not mine and don't know much else about it, wanted $1100 for it.

Remington-Lee Sporter
Finally saw one. There was one for sale that had been sporterized; barrel shortened, new front ramp, new pistol grip stock, unknown peep sight. Looked like whoever did the work was a real gunsmith, not Bubba. Bore was hard to see, seemed more dirty than anything, although it was obvious it had some ...

Re: Help identifying peep sight mount
Is the peep sight base on the right or left side of the rifle? If on the right it may also be an old Redfield or Lyman sight. Back in the heyday of sporterizing Krags these were common sights, and the base will be steel. If on the left side and only one screw is visible it may be a no-drill type. Re...

Re: If you're really desperate for 30-40 brass
Unless full OAL is essential for crimping 303 Brit brass works and is a lot cheaper. I have used it, simply resize in a Krag sizing die and you have a slightly short 30/40 Krag case.

Re: 2 modified Krags
Not an expert so can't help on value, but more detailed pics/descriptions as well as bore condition will be needed for the more knowledgeable members here to offer advice. Sporterized rifles do not command the prices of unmolested examples, but are still fun to shoot, thus bore condition is an issue.

Krag on Cast Boolits Forum
Member there has a Krag that appears to be an unmolested carbine in a sporter stock in the Swapping and Selling section, asking $550 shipped. Not interested but thought perhaps someone here might be. Not my Krag and have no other info. I am not anything like an expert but barrel has original front s...

Re: Case Separation
Have you tried using a new 30 cal brush, push past case mouth and then pull back out. This sometimes works. Think I have seen the broken shell extractors for the Krag for sale somewhere, perhaps someone here knows where, or may have one you could borrow.
