Re: Would You Accept the Krag In 1892?

I guess the point I'm trying to make is that there were American bolt action designs that were submitted, but not accepted. Some thought that those designs were better. By the way, I've provided the link below in the past to show the Norwegian pronunciation of Krag-Jorgensen. May sure to scroll down...

Would You Accept the Krag In 1892?

We all are enthralled with the Krag Jorgensen rifle (in love with seemed too strong or wishy washy), but have you ever considered how you would have felt about the selection of a foreign rifle in 1892 for the Military? I know how I felt about the Beretta replacing the Colt Model 1911 handgun. It was...

Re: Oh Deer!

Yeah, tell me about the "street smart deer". I was out all afternoon and saw nothing during Illinois' late season deer hunt (just south of the Wisconsin border). Of course I saw two on the way home tonight trying to cross the road in front of me. Had to give it all I had with brakes and ho...

From Flintlock to Krag

A symbol I thought was kind of neat. It was used at the end of small arms articles during the early 1900's in the "Journal of the Military Service Institution of the United States". Obviously referring to the Springfield Armory.

Re: Deep dives on Krag Carbine development

Not a deep dive, but here is an early article on the "U.S Magazine Carbine, Model 1895" dating March 1895. Some little tidbits. https://www.google.com/books/edition/Journal_of_the_United_States_Cavalry_Ass/50pZo6CzcAUC?hl=en&gbpv=1&dq=john+haines+magazine+rifle+carbine&pg=PA137...
