Re: Serial# 407052

311284's and 311299's are teriffic. Load them as fat as you can so as to fill the generous throat on the krag. I'm not recommending it but I load them with 17 grains of 2400 and my Krags will do what modern rifles will do. I use White Label's BAC lube, gaschecks and size them .312. I use a neck sizi...

Re: 1892/1896 modified serial 23624

I am curious. Is the forend a replacement, it looks like there is a seem under the barrel band as well as a change in color.

Beautiful rifle! Nice 1892 parts on the bolt and 92 handguard

1892 cleaning rod thread pitch

what is the thread pitch on the 1892 cleaning rod?

Either the threads on the block at the receiver are buggered or the block does not take the same threads as the 3-piece cleaning rod.

Thanks in advance.

Re: New krag owner trying to learn more about them

I don't see as anyone mentioned Bobby Hoyt in PA. If the bore in your 1898 is indeed, ruined, Bobby can reline the bore. You will have a brand new bore and keep the originl barrel with the rifle.

I have an 1898 Carbine he did and the work is invisible. He has done 3 other rifles for me.

Re: Is this Krag correct?

silly me. it is in an 1899 stock, however, one of you smarter guys- does that handguard go with the 1896 rear sight?
Thanks all!

Mark the humbled.

Re: Is this Krag correct?

in addition, unless upgraded to an 1898 stock, the 1896 Carbine had an entirely different handguard and barrel band.
