Re: '98 sport carbine confirmation
Maybe we're dealing with a different idea of "full-length" here. The description otherwise pretty-much matches a DCM-style conversion. Carbine stock and band (no swivels), M1905 front sight (1" band around muzzle), plus aftermarket receiver sight replacing cutoff, minus handguard and ...

Re: Repro slings?
Well, Turner seems to know about the 1887 and 1903 slings even if you can't order one on their website. Maybe you could call them.

[From Turner's website]
Historic Reproduction Military Slings

* M1907 Sling for M1903 Springfield, M1 Garand.
* BAR Th...

Re: M1898 Krag really compete but a question on sling
I suspect the sling pictured is a Vietnam-era "tropical" nylon version of the US M1 sling (used mainly on the M14 and M16). You can be reasonably certain it was not made until a couple of generations after the Mexican Expedition of 1916-17. The Mexican(-American) W...

Re: My restored "fake" carbine
Very nicely done - but one feature jumps out as uncharacteristic: the upper contour of the handguard is visibly different from what we normally see in original SA production. Instead of being straight, with a distinct 45-degree chamfer at the front end, yours displays a rounded "Roman nose"...

Re: Newbie - Need to sell this 1916 but ..........
The arm in the photos is a "sporterized" Norwegian Model 1912. Consumer demand for altered military rifles is currently low.

If the scope mount is attached via clamping (rather than drille...

I think the only reply needed for most of your "answer" posts is "Thank you". If I've neglected to add that in the past, please accept a belated one from me now.

Re: 1898 question
The lever operates the magazine cut-off. Open the bolt and look inside the magazine (where the cartridges are presented to the bolt) and you can see the cut-off shaft in action as you flip the lever.

The front sight blade is held in place with a small pin and can be replaced after driving...

Re: How to move back sight for windige
Depends on which model sight is installed. Marketing advice
1. Your listing will appear more authoritative if you spell "Krag" correctly and use "handguard" instead of "top wood".
2. An 1899 manufacture date seems questionable. Leave it out as it adds nothing to value.
3. "Wood stock good" is problematical co...

You'll need to find an upper band, band screw, stacking swivel, and swivel screw.
