Gee, that long Krag in the night shot looks kind of Yankee up front. Wide upper band, no underbarrel bayonet lug. Compare to Norsk 1894 -

This is a simple home shop project - sheet metal (~.015""), snips/scissors, file, pliers, soldering setup (bench vise helpful but not essential). Aluminum version uses folded top joint, brass or copper use solder. Even made one from an empty WD40 can. It works. Smooth all edges with sandpa...

Save potential problem by leaving magazine spring alone (except for any needed cleaning).
1. It's hidden from view.
2. Any heat process might ruin spring temper.

Based on advertised velocity, these are moderate loads. "Extreme" doesn't always refer to velocity or pressure.
