Re: Address for Frank Mallory

Bill,

Go to the post below from Frank entitled Krag Rifle Story: headstamps. Then just click on the little envelope under his name on the upper left of the screen. You can e-mail him directly.

Re: 8X58RD ?

Todd,

A word of advice, don't use xxx at the end of any serial number!!!! If you are asking people on this site for information or any help we need to know the serial number, the COMPLETE serial number. It will help the experts tell much about your gun, model, date of manufacture, date of iss...

Re: Krag cartouche

What you mention is kind of along the lines I was thinking. I forwarded your photos to my brother for input and he mentioned that maybe the gun was used during WWI and/or WWII by the home guard. Thus the rondel with crossed canons. He threw out that maybe the CA stood for Coastal Artillery. Just a t...

Re: Krag cartouche

Clyde,

Thanks for the two photos you e-mailed me. Unfortunately, I can't find anything like them in my Handbook of Military Rifle Marks. Do you know any of the history of this gun? The reason I ask is that the marks may be something to do with a National Guard unit or American Legion post or ...

I may be able to figure it out.

Re: Krag information

James,

Good choice!!!! I don't think you can make a better selection for a deer rifle than a sporterized Krag!! I have quite a few different ones that I have hunted with for years. Some still have the original military sights others with nice Williams peep sights and some with scopes (standar...

Re: Ebay Krag

Mitch,

I saw that too and thought it was kind of strange. It is listed as a "live auction". I don't know how that is different and how it gets past their rules, though.

Strange stuff....
