Re: Krag bolt strength
In the above link the testing was done on a Krag whose bolt had the front lug ground off. Any sources for tests done on intact Krag bolts/actions?

Re: Saw a Krag in a movie
Yeah, Marvin's Krag looks like a sporterized 1894 Norwegian: seems to have a pistol grip stock, shape of the loading door, the enlarged area at the front of the receiver ring for the handguard, and the shape of the rear sight. I'll have to watch the movie to see if there are any shots of it by itsel...

Re: Norwegian Sporter Krag
Rich, is it possible for you to seat your bullets far enough out to engage the rifling and so hold the brass back against the bolt face when firing? In other words, seat the bullet far enough out that there is some resistance to closing the bolt. You might have excess headspace by SAAMI standards bu...

Re: Bogus new members?
Well, let's consider what advantages are there for a person who registers? Access to images? Other things? It's possible all these bogus names represent inroads for organizations to take advantage of what's on this site. But for what ultimate purpose, who knows?<br /><br />I'm just getting over the ...

Re: Fired New Krag for First Time
Did that crack in the stock give you any problems? I know we'd all like to see some pictures of the your Krag when you get a chance.<br />Handloading is the long-term way to go. You could even get into casting your own bullets to fit your groove diameter. There's an initial investment, sure, but I h...

Re: Help wth Identifying a Krag Carbine
<r>I'm a little confused by that rear sight. The ramp looks like it has the height to be an 1898 but the piece that has the rear sight notch (whatever you call it) looks like a 1902. A case of mix and match?<IMG src="https://kragcollectorsassociation.org/kca/phpBB3/images/yabbfiles/Attachments/KragR...

Looks like the two soldiers in the center of the Camp Perry pic are wearing 1902 campaign hats? I think the guy on the left just sat on his.

Re: American Rifleman Photo
From their headgear I thought it was earlier than 1920, too. Wasn't the "Montana Peak" campaign hat adopted around 1911? And the fella on the right looks like he's wearing an older hat that's had the crown reshaped, the dimples look more Canadian than U.S.
