Sighting Notches on 1896 rear sights.

I've looked carefully and have not found any info on sighting notches on the 1896 rear sight.<br /><br />Were they all the same? The sight on my 1896 has a fine notch, the sight on my upgraded 1892 has a larger notch.<br /><br />I'm wondering if this was Springfield or not. It does not look like Bub...

Re: Tail wasgs the dog

I did just that! Didn't know I had an ejector and ejector pin! How cool is that. Not sure I have a follower and only one follower spring. probably half a dozen triggers.

Anyone want to trade a trigger and spring for a safety?

Mainspring, shipping included, 10 bucks! Great thinks I.<br /><br />So I get the mainspring, 5 minutes later it's installed...

Re: 1898 extractor in 1892 bolt sleeve

Sorry for the emphasis - but after the recent Cerrosafe debacle, I wanted to be sure you read the instructions! :-) All the best from the West.

I deserved that!

Thank god the only thing harmed was the cleaning rod.

Re: 1898 extractor in 1892 bolt sleeve

<blockquote>Yes it will fit the sleeve, and, if the receiver in which you plan to use it has the pin notch, it will function just fine. If you are putting it into an original un-notched receiver, it will still function as an extractor, but it will not hold the bolt open. Do <strong><u>NOT</u></stron...

1898 extractor in 1892 bolt sleeve

Will an 1898 extractor fit and function properly in an 1892 bolt sleeve?

I have an 1892 bolt and sleeve with the screw but no extractor. 1898 extractors are 20 bucks 1892 extractors are 100 bucks or more.

Case Separation

Shooting the weekend before last I had a case separate at the neck. Some of that piece of case is in the very end of the chamber and maybe, just a little in the lead.<br /><br />I have tried and failed to remove it.<br /><br />Any ideas or help would be appreciated.<br /><br />I'm wondering if a .32...
