Amazing Krag indeed.
[Thought it was interesting but my 1899 Constabulary Rifle -August 1900- is 50,000 rifles away from the Lot 133 rifle in the photo.]

Re: 1896 SRC almost.
Very nice Patton Swords. I have a British 1897 infantry pattern sword with an Edward VII cypher.

Re: Show me a nice stock Cartouche
Here’s another view of the cartouche. It’s an exceptionally clean rifle.

Re: 1896 SRC almost.
Just tried shooting it some with my school rifle reloads and it’s hitting way low plus my neck sized loads are too long and difficult to close the bolt on. I’m using the notch on the ladder with the ladder laying down flat and a fine bead. I will have to full length size some brass and see how they ...

Re: Krag bowie bayonet
I don’t remember seeing a Krag Bowie, wish that I had but I wasn’t looking for one. The insanely high price is why I built my faux bowie.

50B4EE05-6B3C-488B-B18F-77B03143BCE2.jpeg Just got back home an hour ago, about a 390 mile drive. Ate dinner at the Rocky Mount Cracker Barrel. Good stuff. I’m impressed that I picked a good Krag. I saw the carbines on the wall with correct rear sights. I really wasn’t looking for a Krag carbine as...

1896 SRC almost.
I attended the Baltimore antique military show yesterday [ it had been covid cancelled for 2 years] and 3 aisles from the end found an affordable [to me] 1896 SRC. It looks legit but with a lightly sanded stock, circle P is gone and side cartouche is very weak. And of course it’s got a rifle sight n...

Re: New member looking to learn
I like fine bronze wool to clean stocks and blued steel. Will cut the crud without damaging anything. Looks good, now to build some ammo.

Constabulary Krag on GB
Don’t know if it’s been mentioned here but there appears to be a correct 1899 School Rifle [constabulary] on GB now. The SN is 355027, has the correct handguard, muzzle cut for bayonet, a ‘C’ on the sight base. Looks to be all there but is rough. You guys are the experts. Can be yours for $2600.00. ...
