Re: Archie Bunker Was Right!

Well, Dick, you do live on the left coast where all logic is thrown to the wind! I wish to note that much of rural/agricultural Northern California is akin to the midwest, though "waterman", who lives relatively near me, is in something of a hot-pocket of libs. The rest of the state, howe...

Re: Archie Bunker Was Right!

Frankly my dear, I don't give a s**t what the patent shows, it is easier to snap off a few sheets one-handed, when hung the other way, and, is less attractive to cats. My cats don't like TP - they much prefer the paper towel roll in the kitchen, or worse yet if someone leaves a a PT (not TP) roll la...

Re: 71

I lucked into one, many years ago, at a yard sale in Marin County. The old man (I said it was years ago ) who'd owned it apparently could not figure out how to remove the bolt - which is necessary to get at the rear guard screw - so he just set the flopping bunch of parts aside, then, he passed...

Re: Muzzle-Cover 'jungle'

Good post. I know why (supply and demand) prices have gone up - what surprises me is the speed with which it seemingly happened. Fortunately, I am an old fart and acquired enough of them (but not nearly as many as Whig   ) when the prices were much lower, and before they started being repr...

Re: 71

Anyone wanting to shoot rapid fire with a .45-70 should consider a bolt-action Model 1885 Remington-Lee Navy. 5-round detachable box magazines, basicially the same as an AR15. If stripper clips are allowed with 1903s, then there should be no problem with mags on the R-L?

Re: Serial number???

That is a Model 1896, not 1898, and is in a believable carbine range. I did not check the exact number, which I too, read as 77961.

No, I'll just keep my anti-government rants to myself. They don't really belong here anyhow, but, that doesn't mean there isn't a rocky road ahead . . .

Or, in other words: "Loose lips sink ships" and "Large male fraternal relative's ear is cocked." Probably so, I'd better get back to my fantasizing. If I disappear, you'll know why . . . .

Re: Senate Border Bill unveiled ....

Chuck, the cartoon is funny - actually very funny, but the words don't address the issue (which is NOT the simple, and trite, "supply and demand" situation) at all.

Re: "Type 7" Handguard For 1901 Rifle Sight?

The holes themselves NEVER changed, but the varying sight base sizes and footprints did. Hand guards had to be shaped differently to suit them. Footprint "A": 1892R, 1896R, 1896C (but with different short, hump, no hump, hand guard forms) Footprint "B": 1901R & C (but with di...
