Re: Anybody Got Any Trapdoor Loads To Share?

I am a HUGE fan of Lyman's M-Dies. I haven't collected the whole set...yet....but have them in most of the calibers for which I use cast projectiles. Still possible to over flare but, set up properly, leaves a nice 'cup' in which to place the bullet and seats without shaving any lead. I can't give a...

Re: Trail Boss

Well huh. That link doesn't work for me either. Here's (hopefully) another way to get to it => https://imrpowder.com/resources/data-sheets/

The data sheet you want is about half way down the page under "Reduced Rifle Loads".

Doesn't change any of the above information...

Re: Trail Boss

Here is what IMR has to say on their site: http://www.imrpowder.com/PDF/Trail-Boss-data.pdf

Essentially, full case to the base of the seated bullet, not compressed, is the maximum load. 70% of that figure is the starting load. I have not personally run the numbers for the .30USG.

Re: 30-40 krag 26 tpi screws

I just took out the Redfield peep sight screw and need the side plate screw to replace it. Krag 1898 Carbine . Sight screw is too long. Boy! You can't beat that kind of deal with a stick. Makes me wish I were in GA! Hope it shoots well for you.

Stumbled into this elsewhere on the 'net

I thought it was quite interesting. My Norwegian is nonexistent and I didn't try any of the translation functions. Have to go back when I have a few minutes.

Re: Sporter/Restoration Question

Thank you for your thoughts. This particular project is a bit out in front as there are a few others on the bench. I think butlersrangers suggestion is a dandy: 'Leave the metal bits alone, build the sporter, search for the replacement military bits and another previously molested Krag.' Best of bot...

Sporter/Restoration Question

I'll post this in the Sporter category but my question somewhat straddles the line. Either way, it seems like folks here happily spend time in all areas.

The back story: A few years back, I fell in lust with a friend's sporter Krag. Absolutely marvelous rendition of the breed and I was ta...
