I will share more as I learn more.
Fantastic! Can't wait to learn more/see more about it.

Also, if you're willing to take some additional photos I could use in my book, let me know!

Re: Interesting Danish Krag

It is interesting indeed. Seems to be a modern sporterizing of a prototype. Could the original have been built as a commercial hunting rifle or was it built in military configuration? Did wood worms eat the original stock and someone need to do something with the remainder? Looks like it was not fi...

Re: 1915 Danish Krag find.

Hey! I gotta say, I'm honestly quite surprised with the offerings of 60 dollars for this, that seems off base in my opinion. Of course, it's a rusty parts build but from what I've heard there are VERY few of these Danish rifles stateside, and complete rifles go for the thousands. Obviously I may be ...

Re: Krag in 7X57

It's worth noting Kongsberg Våpenfabrikk converted many M1894 and M1912 krags to 8mm Mauser, and some, although few, were converted to 7x57 and a proprietary 8x54mm Krag-Jørgensen cartridge. However the markings do indicate it was a Sako conversion, probably done in the late 50s once the rifles were...

Re: Danish Krag

It is worth noting that there are some models of Danish Krag that don't have the barrel jacket. The Engineer Carbines, Cavalry Carbines, M/1928, and M/1928/33 rifles don't have them. Make sure yours is a M/1889 or M/1889/24 carbine beforehand!

Re: Danish Krag

Nice find! That was originally an Ingeniørgevær M1889 (Engineer Rifle). These Engineer rifles (later renamed Ingeniørkarabin since carbine is more appropriate for the rifles size) are all marked with a stylized "I" before its serial number. Roughly 4500 were made. 8x58 is indeed next to im...

Re: Danish Krag Serial Number Data. Show Me Your Danes!

Welp, in the 6 days that I posted this, I managed to find serials in all years except for 1920 and 1945. Supposedly no production was done in 45, but some were done in 1920, and I can't manage to find any examples. If anyone happens to find examples of a Danish Krag made in 1920 with a serial number...

Re: The last year Krag rifles were made

It seems Norwegian Krags were produced over a much longer period than the short production years of the American models. There were a few hundred Norwegian Krags produced for special purpose even after WWII. This one is the latest I have seen. Receiver dated 1947. We call it the model M30 by its pa...

Re: Danish Krag Jørgensen m89 Single shot

That is a strange one. I have not seen one without the magazine before. It was not too uncommon in Denmark, several single-shot versions of the Krag were made and sold during the rifles lifetime. Most notibly, "P" marked civilian sale Danish Krags often were ordered without a magazine for...
