Or cases can be made from 45/90. Midway has Starline brand 45/90 in stock now. Dies? Check with CH4D.

Re: 1896 Sedgley sporter with head-space issue.

I'll bet someone swapped that bolt body somewhere along the way. When it wouldn't work, they cut the front edge down thinking maybe that was the reason it wouldn't work. We were having some discussion about bolts being interchangeable here: http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?199833-What-...

Re: 1896 Sedgley sporter with head-space issue.

<r>Hmm, vertical line on the guide rib went away, must've been a reflection. Only cure now is a chamber reamer, one that has flutes on the rear that also cuts the rim seat into the breech face, like the one I have pictured. I'd think any 25-35 reamer would have them. As you know, you only need a lit...

Re: 1896 Sedgley sporter with head-space issue.

I can't imagine anything getting out the door of R.F. Sedgeley's shop that wouldn't work. The others have you pointed in the right direction. Another possibility would be someone swapped the bolt body over the years before you got it, and didn't try it out afterwards. A bolt with a full width guide ...

Re: Sight Offset Question

Does your barrel have a P proofmark? Reason I ask is Numrich has sold some Krag barrels in the past that had alignment problems. If yours has the proofmark, then that's not the case.

Re: 1896 Replacement Hand Guard Fit

He doesn't like to take them back, but will. I purchased one of his for the 1901 sight. Somehow the sight slot got cut off center. The handguard looked fine, until you put the sight on. It would force the handguard to rotate left, leaving a large space between handguard and stock on the right. We ar...

Re: Cast Bullets in my 1898

<r>My 92/96 rifles like the NOE 311365, a spire point. I see NOE has a 5 cavity in stock. http://noebulletmolds.com/orders/catalog/index.php?cPath=30&sort=2a&page=3 I generally use slower burning powders than most cast bullet shooters. The cast bullets seem to like the lower pressure. Group ...

Re: First Krag

Well, if Paul ever gets around to loading the cast bullets I gave him, you all can get together at Washtenaw's cast bullet matches. I might manage one or two trips this year. It's a long way from Upper Appalachia to lower Michigun!
