Re: Took the '96 Krag to the range today....

That is a beautiful sporter there! Do I see a Weaver scope mount on the receiver side? Sporters definitely have their place in the Krag world... and they're great fun too!!!

Thanks. Yes it does have a weaver side mount on it. I used the scope at the
range, a...

Took the '96 Krag to the range today....

to celebrate her 120th birthday. Fired about 20 rounds at 25 and 50 yards. Re: U.S. Rifle 7.62mm M14

Nice, if the serial # is early enough, it might be a Devine, TX made receiver. Guys pay a bit more for them. I let one slip away from me once because I didn't know. Serial was 1000 something.

I Wish it was a Devine made rifle. Serial # is a bit too high to be one...

Re: U.S. Rifle 7.62mm M14

I gained experience with the M14 while on the USS Ranger CV-61 in the mid 1980s. I was a member of the ship's augmented security forces (an additional duty), so I was trained with M14s, M60s, M870s, M1911s... AND the famous Browning M2 machine gun - for which I was an in-port emergency g...

U.S. Rifle 7.62mm M14

I've owned this rifle since 1978. It's a Springfield Armory M1A with M14A1 SAW (squad automatic weapon) stock. The grandkids like shooting this one also. :)

<b...

Grandson shooting the Model 1896

A 13 year old kid with a 119 year old rifle. :) He'd rather shoot the Krag than any of my other rifles.

U.S. Krags used by Russia in WW1 ??

According to John P. Sheehan. over on Gunboards,

"An unspecified number of U.S. .30-40 Krag-Jorgenson rifles made their way to Russia during WWI. Examples of these rifles exist in Russian museum collections. Since the Krag-Jorgenson was by that time considered a reserve weapon in the...

Re: Number 5 Mark 1 Enfield

Looks like fun. Mine did not survive my Krag & single shot mania. I have since read that the receivers were modified from the later No. 4 receivers. Apparently modifications were more extensive than just a new barrel & all new wood. Do you have a No. 4 for comparison?</blockquote...
