I saw that article, too. I wonder if there's a website to view those pictures.

Re: Reloading,where to start?
<r>Here's a list of equipment from Midway I compiled for a friend who was just getting into reloading. It's just the basics. Prices might be out of date as this was several months ago. These are just suggestions.<IMG src="https://kragcollectorsassociation.org/kca/phpBB3/images/yabbfiles/Attachments/...

That is a nice looking sporter! If you are not into reloading yet, now you've got a good reason to. Commercial ammo is fine but you can tell from this forum that you can get great results when you "roll your own".

Re: Help with the 2 Danish Krags below ?
Sorry to keep on yammering but another question came to mind. Why did whoever shortened your rifle go to the trouble of putting two barrel bands so close together? I think it's because the jacket was cut. As you probably know, on a rifle with a jacketed barrel the relatively light weight barrel is h...

Re: Help with the 2 Danish Krags below ?
At the risk of topic drift, I'd like to hear your recipes for the 8X58RD you use in your rolling block. I also have a Swede RB in that caliber. The groove diameter on mine is so large that I use .329 jacketed and cast bullets. It's very accurate.

About your Danish Krag, one thing that kep...

Re: Help with the 2 Danish Krags below ?
On your carbine, there is no letter prefix, the rifle rear sight is still in place, the stock has been shortened even further, and the two barrel bands have been moved rearward, so far that the rear barrel band retaining spring is gone. And your jacket has been cut.

It su...

Re: Help with the 2 Danish Krags below ?
<r>Well, the person I contacted seems to be a dead end, at least for now.

But, I've been doing some research.
1889 Danish Krag rifles were sometimes converted to carbines by military arsenals. Carbines were marked with A (artillery), F (foot soldier), R (cavalry), and I (engineer). T...

Re: Help with the 2 Danish Krags below ?
Just a couple other things that I noticed.

The barrel jacket is too short for the barrel.

The rear-most barrel band has been set back so far that it looks like the retaining spring and its recess in the stock are gone.

The forward-most barrel band serves no purpose e...

Re: Help with the 2 Danish Krags below ?
Maybe it's a long shot, I sent an email to a gentleman who is quite the expert on Swedish rifles including rolling blocks and Mausers. I forwarded a couple of your pictures and asked if he had any contacts who might be able to help out with background info for your rifle. You never know.

...

Re: Part 2 of Danish before // after photos
Could you take a couple full-length pictures, too? I'd like to see the whole thing all at once. Be sure to wear sunglasses if you use a flash though, that is one shiny rifle!
