Re: Does the 1898 and 1902 sight use the same base?
Amazing research! I really appreciate the knowledge and have added it to each of the rifle history files I keep. I am going to keep Krag #242668 with the 1898 sight and base, and Krag #482609 with a 1902 sight and base. I’ll probably sell the second 1898 sight and base. Good to know information that...

Beautiful.
I thought the first photo was a model at first.

Re: Does the 1898 and 1902 sight use the same base?
So I have two krags being restored with new criterion barrels, stocks, and bluing. Rifle #1: Serial 242668 is equipped with an 1898 sight. I wonder if this rifle falls within the serial range for possible use in the Philippines — was the 1898 sight in use there? Rifle #2: Serial 482609 is just a rec...

Re: Does the 1898 and 1902 sight use the same base?
Awesome information! I’m heading to the shop to check which bases I have — hoping to have one of each. Thank you so much! Here is one that is not mounted to a rifle — I believe it is the 1898 base. The other appears the same. CE3790E6-6E5F-47D5-BDFE-3F3AC362A230.jpeg 2CDA42FA-9889-4B20-A46F-4FF3053E...

Re: handguard
Yes, any details on your experience making the clips would be much appreciated. I am starting down this road in about a week for two new hand guards.

Re: 1895 Winchester Lee destroyed
So… if one was to buy this, is there available parts and stock to bring it back?

Re: New Member — Hello
The second rifle is just a complete receiver I just picked up off Gun Broker — it’s getting everything the same as the first: BD6E358F-49AC-44D7-A316-DE16C9278CD9.jpeg CCEA9BF1-B316-44DB-A304-356740925EBB.jpeg 8A5DB026-2C65-4713-8194-47BD4E86473B.jpeg 82DC63A3-71F4-4C56-AA02-6BDB72CB92E1.jpeg

Re: New Member — Hello
Just posted in the US Krag section also - working on the restoration of two 1898 Krag rifles. The first rifle was sporterized and brought back by a previous owner to military configuration with an 1898 sight. The stock was mended with a new forend. Unfortunately the barrel is completely shot out — h...

Re: High serial number 1898 rifle
Thanks Whig! It’s been a lot of fun so far — I originally set out to do one rifle but since I had a second new stock…. I did see Grandpa’s, but the website was closed for the holiday. I ended up using S&S and Numrich. I do need to track down some hand guard clips, so Grandpa’s will be my last sh...
