Re: Vithavuori for the 30-40

I use the Lee trimmers all the time. I recently expanded some .44-40 to .45 and then cut it back to .45 autorim length for a project. Also used one to cut .45-70 down to .45-60 for my 1876 NWMP carbine. They are pretty much fool proof. But I wish that the cutters were a little bigger in diameter for...

Re: Ercot -- Electrical reliabilty council of Texas

We’ve been dodging the worst of the wintry mess, being east of the freeze line as the storms roll up the coast. Just cold and a whole lot of rain. We had a bad tornado hit north of Myrtle Beach the other day. Lost power last week for a while but have a Generac whole home so we were fine. The best ho...

Re: ‘Carbine’ into a Constabulary’ish build.

Thanks Fred. I recently upgraded to a belt drive after my plastic gear failed. Its a great upgrade. Earlier upgrades were a column stiffener plate, extended x lead screw, a table to make it eye level and gas pistons in the column. The setups to do the stock work are a real head scratcher. I use an o...

Re: ‘Carbine’ into a Constabulary’ish build.

I tried to open up a ‘03 front sight base and couldn’t do it so I removed his 03-a3 base. He said it was on tight but it came right off. If I had tried to trim the top down to get the upper bbl band over it the blade pin hole would have been too close to the edge. I might try again on the ‘03 sight ...

Re: As promised...pics of the Dane

Always drives me crazy when I see pretty guns displayed on or against cement, brick, gravel or stone walls. Kinda like when they do the sword bend test on Forged in Fire. One little bump and a major oops. Btw, good looking rifle.

Re: "Up-Grading" Faux Carbine

I used a m1a walnut handguard on my T20 garand build and have ordered another for my buds faux constabulary. My guard is too proud and sits too high so I’ll remove the rivets and take some wood off the left side to lower it. I’m using a mauser clip to clamp it on my bbl [only need one as the front e...

Re: ‘Carbine’ into a Constabulary’ish build.

Got the lower swivel inlet, used the mill. I have done them by hand but the mill does a great job. Also have the stock extension done. Tomorrow it will warm up so I’ll get back out to my shop...... What a difference a day makes. It warmed up nicely and was a beautiful 70 degree day considering all t...

This is exactly what I would use a time machine for. Going to the 1904 Exposition. Neat stuff

Re: Pair of 1896 Long Rifles

Nice looking unmolested rifles but I’m not an expert and don’t know the fine nuances of the mysterious Krag. They look a lot like my 1896 rifle which has an 1896 cartouched stock. It’s sn is 83470, a little later than those two. Price might be a little high compared to the one Krag dealer’s rifle pr...

Re: 1899 Philippines Constabulary Carbine Production Numbers

Hey guys, has anyone ever actually written to the historians of these universities asking if they have any records of serial numbers of the school rifles that were once in their possession? Or is this a dumb question and the records stored in the attic were eaten by mice 50 years ago.
