Fake NRA Krag rebuild
<r>I bought what I thought might be a NRA Krag couple of years ago and then later found a nice honest Constabulary Krag that I love shooting. I'm thinking that I want to src my fake nra carbine. I'm not interested in trying to build an exact copy. The first issue would be the removal of the Springfi...

Re: Group buy of .30-40 brass by the forum members
Evidently they have some more. I just ordered a bag 12-19-16 at 4:30 in the afternoon. Hope they're decent brass but they've got to be better than the mystery brass I'm using now.

Re: ammo/chamber/bolt/rifle question
Thanks for the info. I wasn't sure if I had a problem with one or both of my Krags or my reloading technique. I didn't even think about the normal discrepancies in manufacturing 100 years ago. The first time that I have owned 2 centerfire bottleneck cartridge rifles in the same rifle caliber at the ...

ammo/chamber/bolt/rifle question
I have 2 Krags, a NRA? carbine and a PC and only about 130 rds of used brass. To keep from overworking my brass I have split the brass between them and after an initial fl sizing am necksizing with a.308 sizer die. I have found that my PC loads will not chamber in the nra but the nra ammo will go in...

Re: Tin Star powder 1st reload .30-40 results not bad
I experimented with 3 different 170 gr bullets the other day out of my PC rifle. I had been using my NRA but I did the repair on the PC stock. Same 10.0 gr Tin Star, 40 yd off a bag. Two were .308 (lead and jacketed) and one was .310 ( lead gc). I got a 1 inch, one hole group with the .310 and a 2 i...

Re: 1896 Krag Carbine
Before you give up on the bbl try some larger diameter lead bullets. I shot my PC Krag yesterday with 3 types of 170 gr bullets. .308 lead and jacketed and .310 gc cast. I got a 1 inch group with the .310s and 2 inch plus with the others.(40 yds off a bag). Play with your ammo some and see what your...

Re: Group buy of .30-40 brass by the forum members
I emailed Winchester yesterday and got a response. It said that they are planning a run later this year and that I should contact my lgs. I sent them another email to say that no online sellers even list .30 krag as it's been out of production for so long, could l preorder from them? Waiting for the...

Group buy of .30-40 brass by the forum members
Given the fact that this forum is made up totally of members who collect Krag rifles that all shoot .30-40 has there ever been any discussion about a group buy of brass by forum members? I don't know how many members there are but with new brass going for over $2.00 each there has to be a way to get...

Re: Tin Star powder reloads .30-40 results not bad
<r>I set up my chrony today and this is what happened. I have never used it very much so I will leave it to the experts here to tell me if I'm doing this right. The 125gr was faster than the 170gr which I figured would be the case. The 125 gr are Meister bullets so are very nice but the 170gr are wh...
