Re: 1887 Prototype #5

Close up of the inside of action. The little half-moon notch is the ejector. It doesn't throw it too far, but the case does flip out of the way.
The magazine is not attached to the receiver. It sits in the stock and then the action sits on top.

Top view of action. Again, notice the extractor is not pinned to rotate. The #5 on the side of the trigger guard.

Re: 1887 Prototype #5

The rear of the action. The #5 on the bolt. Notice, no safety on the side. It has a half-cock safety. Also, notice that the extractor is not pinned to swing to the side as you take the bolt out. It is spring steel, so you pull it up and rotate the bolt. The extractor just rotates down along the left...

Re: 1887 Prototype #5

The rear sight is pretty cool. It is double hinged, so that the sighting notch when it is down rotates as it goes up so you sight through the same notch.

Re: 1887 Prototype #5

Here are the metal parts out of the stock. The front sight adjusts by turning the knob. It has a flat crown.

1887 Prototype #5

The beauty has arrived!! It is a pretty amazing gun. One of a kind, for sure. Here are photos of it in the stock, obviously aftermarket sporter, but very nice! The guy I got it from said the original stock was really bad, so he had it put in this one. Unfortunately says he didn't keep the old one. I...

WTS: Beautiful Blonde Krag *REDUCED* SOLD

Here is a very nice 1898 Krag un-cut rifle serial #386326. As you can see, it is an uncommon one on a beautiful Italian Walnut stock. Some of the metal has been blued at some time in the past, there are some minor freckling spots and some minor pitting on the side of the barrel just at the stock lin...
