Re: From the Little Big Horn Battlefield
Percussion revolvers are fun, but a bugger to clean thoroughly! I always thought it would be fun to have one of these big double-action Colts, as made for the Philippine Constabulary. Same here As a lad of 14, I had one. Some genius sawed off the barrel to about 3 inches, making ejection a problem....

Re: Neat Photos
That probably worked for the Trapdoor if you were firing prone from the grass, or from a trench, or from a protected position in the rocks. You could reload it while waiting for the smoke to clear. Not as fast as just holding a few cartridges between your fingers.

Re: Another Smithsonian Krag - .22 caliber
How does one convince the Smithsonian that it is important to know the Stevens-Pope number on the bottom of the barrel?

Re: IMHO-Best Springfield Armory picture
I agree there is something strange about the buttstocks. But the faint line extends across the shoes of the second man. We started as soon as the snow was gone, but made our own deadline to be out of the woods before the of opening day of elk season. I was seriously conce...

Re: New reading material
New to me also. How about a book report? Just ran it through ABE, a used book site. There are a couple of originals available, < $90. There are multiple print-on-demand copies available for more than $100. My experience as a book collector is to avoid print-on-demand if possible. Usually, someone ha...

Re: Arsenal Krag Sizing Die
Would you please show us photos of the ends of the die? It's clearly a "pound" die or one meant to be used in conjunction with a vice, to force the fired & deprimed & lubricated (?) case into the die. With maybe a hole in the other end for admitting something to push the case back ...

Please keep us informed of what you learn, Fred. I'm thinking about the same procedure myself. Your informed approach is the best I've encountered.
