Thanks BR for the report. Interesting for sure. It's a new one to me. So the powder was dry (obviously) when you loaded the cartridges and changed after a primer ignition. What did the powder from the other disassembled rounds look like?

Krag photo at Cracker Barrel
On the way home yesterday and we stopped at Cracker Barrel for breakfast in southern KY. Looked on the wall beside me and there was a picture of a troop with a Krag. At first I thought it was a GI but there doesn't appear to be any uniform patches.

Yelp, there are good rifles out there for $750. I was really fortunate to find a nice condition Model 1898 off the CMP Forum a couple of years ago for $650 shipped.
