Re: Accidental discharge!
Were you able to compare the A.D. fired empty case with another fired case from the same rifle? Maybe a high primer or different indentation in the primer. Just a thought.

Richard Nixon used a krag?
<r>Here's a 1970's photoshop poster of Richard Nixon. Interesting that the original poster featured a well equipped national guard doughboy with a Krag. <IMG src="https://kragcollectorsassociation.org/kca/phpBB3/images/yabbfiles/Attachments/il_794xN_818489599_ah2t.jpg"><s>[img]</s><URL url="https://...

Re: SAW Statue - Detroit
<r>That "hiker" gets around. Here he is at the bohemian national cemetary on the northwest side of chicago. The statue is 8'5" tall and weighs 1600 pounds. He stands on a wassau red granite boulder. It was dedicated in 1926.<IMG src="https://kragcollectorsassociation.org/kca/phpBB3/im...

That's a very nice looking rifle, especially the stock and rear sight. The last picture shows the muzzle. It almost looks like light pitting. It could be the way the picture was taken.

Re: Mystery of S.A.W. veterans in Illinois cemetary
I had a feeling if anyone knew about this they would belong to the KCA. I called the Elmhurst history mueseum. It seems the woman who did the research no longer works there. They did not have an answer for me and asked that I call back during the week. No need to do that now. Thanks

Mystery of S.A.W. veterans in Illinois cemetary
I found this interesting article about S.A.W. veterans . Any ideas from our members on why this was done? <br />(Archivist Nancy Wilson jokes that everything coming through her door at the Elmhurst Historical Museum is a mystery. But the riddle that came from a friend's phone call around Memorial Da...

Re: Question on stock crack
Thank you for the tutorial on the krag stock repair. That looks like a real good solid repair. Since joining this group I have learned volumes on these fine weapons. I would like to thank everyone for their help. I did not think this was a rare krag. I hope it will be a good shooter. Paul, were you ...

Re: Question on stock crack
<r>Thank you for your observations. A magnet detected three finishing nails used as support as you pointed out. I will try to stabilize the two cracks. The rifle came with a 1901 carbine sight, cleaning kit, oiler and sling. It has a 1903 Springfield front sight. It would be nice to know if it was a...
