This interesting Swedish design, the "Snabb38", was adapted to at least one Norwegian Krag. Photos of this ultra-rare 6.5X55mm rifle are displayed on the Gunboard's Forums (Scandinavian rifles).

Gosh, I thought the U.S. Krag stocks were fragile! Image

Gas operated? Why not, since we have seen one made into a slide action. This is only one step further removed. Load it with stripper clips. Or devise a belt feeding mechanism.

Krags with stripperclip guides were made too, but the army only made few for testing. These used ordinary swedish stripperclips.

There's also a Krag made to take Hotchkiss MG strips in a museum in Norway. The action is quite different than an ordinary Krag
