I think there were some very good replies to the gentleman's question. Waiting for things to calm down and reloading are probably the best ideas. Most of the .303 surplus ammo is 50+ years old and if it was not stored properly could be problematic. By the way it is not that cheap either. Factory 303 is priced the same as 30-40 krag. I would suggest listening to a bunch of people who have been there and done that.

" . . . . You can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make him drink . . . . . "

As an aside here, did the initial use of the word "cartage" for "cartridge" give anyone pause? Sure did for me.

I think we were politely overlooking the OP's error and trying to be 'Kind' to the new guy.

It didn't work and now we're 'a bunch of close-minded Kraig A-holes'.

No, we're not.

And, no one was even borderline rude until I pushed the envelope a tad on page 5.

Some people just don't want to hear what they don't want to hear, even if it is the truth - his mind was clearly made up from the git-go and he simply wanted validation which we, wisely, did not give him.

There will be other beginners whom we CAN help.

the late michael petrov, who loved the krags, did destroy the krag by overloading the cartridge. he was the "inventor" of the 400 petrov-whelen, which is on my bucket list.
