Now for something completely different.

Post by butlersrangers »

Monty Python fans will totally get this:

What to do, if attacked by a man armed with a banana (or sharp pointy stick)?

Shoot him with your Krag!

Then, take protective custody of the banana.

(You may be tempted to eat the banana, but keep the banana, or at least the peel, for the subsequent Police Investigation).

Attached photos were pirated from a post on the Gunboards Forum. I could not resist being a "SA".

Dang .... that's a dangerous looking banana!

Interesting photos. We also have a foot. The rifle itself looks good. The bluing appears relatively fresh. Maybe the stock has been rubbed down with blo recently.

I never became a Monty Python fan as I believe it was on during a time slot that I was hitting the discos or some other form of being in the chase.

Knute, you were probably bicycling through Cornwall, at a notorious Bingo Parlor, or attending the University of Caberra-Bera with Bruce ... do you like pictures? .... nudge, nudge, say no more!

Those of us, who misspent our young adult-hood watching episodes of "Monty Python", recall certain sketches and will voice comic lines, when viewing a new circumstance that seems somehow related or relevant.
It is amazing how many life situations were covered by the 'Pythons'. Old Fans can have whole conversations in a 'code' that is completely meaningless to non-fans.

It is not funny if it has to be explained, but quite hilarious if you are a 'brethren'.

Wasn't there a flying circus to go along with it, or am I mistaking it for something else?

The BBC television show was called "Monty Python's Flying Circus".

The same 'troop' made a couple of movies: Monty Python's Life of Brian & Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
I believe, back in the day, the regular cast members were called 'Pythons'.

A lot of younger people have been exposed to "Monty Python" and enjoy their parents' or grandparents' humor via the musical adaptation "Spamalot".

I just plain missed it all. Hee Haw was along my taste, and it was on much earlier (I think). I didn't get going until about 10pm.

We will be inquiring into your antics during your Wild Years.

In fact, we will be conducting an Inquisition!

It is never too late to repent for your misspent youth.

Except I had a black terri-cloth shirt with big collar, off-white bell-bottom pants and bleached blonde hair from working outside. But, thankfully, no picture from that era. Only ones in a brown casual suit.

When I wear my pants that high, my socks show and people laugh.
