That is what I am guarding in the cantaloupe patch. So hunting is involved.

On the subject of hunting cats beside the one I had a few years ago on the ranch, we had a pair of tiger striped cats that were half Siamese when we were kids. They used to bring home doves while the dove hunters were hunting next door. We would take them away from the cats and take them back to the hunters. They were pretty good to grab those doves and avoid the hunters while doing it.

I'm just guessing about the bird being carried by the cat, but it looks like an American Coot, aka "Mud Hen". Very few people ever cook a second Mud Hen.

Ironically, the Toledo Mud Hens are the Triple A - Farm Team of the Detroit Tigers .... birds and cats .... just sayin.

BTW: If I were to use Lester ammo I would make sure my rifle had a bayonet attached...just in case.
