Seeing is Believing!

Post by butlersrangers »

On Gunboards Forums, 'Caribou' posted this unusual picture of a Path'e newsreel image, which shows a U.S. serviceman (radioman) firing a Danish Krag at the enemy.

Others identified the film being from the "Market Garden" offensive.

'808mauser' located the video of the wartime, footage titled "The Forgotten Battle of Overloon" and posted it on Gunboards under Scandinavian Weapons - Krag.

A rare and interesting find! Many thanks to the gentlemen on Gunboards!

This American paratrooper, firing a Danish Krag, is now placed at the battle for Munster, Germany, in April 1945.

German Volkssturm (home guard) troops at Munster were issued Danish Krags, with very limited amounts of 8X58R Danish ammo, (6 to 7 rounds per gun).

Apparently, the Danish rifle was picked up by a G.I. posing for the film crew.
