Oh Deer, I never figured Donner to be so clueless.

Some social blunders should be obvious upon reflection!

Some of the descendants of the Donner party are my next-door neighbors. Very nice people who live normal lives.

No disrespect was meant toward the tragic ordeal of the Donner Party or their descendants.

Although, I have been tempted at times to 'check-in' with the hostess, at a busy restaurant, as the "Donner Party".
I thought it would be amusing, when we were finally called, to see if any of the staff or waiting dinners 'got' the bad joke!
(My sensitive wife keeps me in check).

I would bet you the cost of the dinner if any customer or employee of that restaurant knew anything about the Donner party.
