Inflation study

Post by Culpeper »

I've been thinking about the continuing and most recent events of the States that at United heading into inflation. So I decided to pull out the ol' spreadsheet and look at my random notes on previous additions to the tunnel complex.

I bought some 35 Remington from Sportsmansguide in March 2011. It was 21.63 a box of 20 or $1.09 a round. I pasted in the same link and found the ammo is not available, (GASP*). Okay. Not surprised by that but the last listed price was 2.25 a shot. I think some of that can be counted as a low volume cartridge, and the high demand phenomena. I can not rule inflated cost of raw materials at this moment but it is a factor no less. Of course SportsMansGuide has always been a higher than competitors price location.

Moving on.

Now Last listed $40.73 Jan. 2015 $26.93

Now $339.99 Then 2020 03 $207.85

Now 54.99 Then 2015 May $25.45

The same from Natchez in July 2017 was $29.49.

I guess the whole purpose of my little exercise is to remind myself not to focus on past prices alone but to remind myself (and now others) that even then I had to pay the going rate and to get the item like right now if I wanted to shoot my rifles. It was expensive for me back then. Ahhhhh. Inflation. I hate it.
