That rifle has lickly been in P.R. since the Span AM war. It may have even been issued durring the second war to a home guard unit. What a great find.

Still waiting on the Police and Local Government to register under my name. Since it was never register and pass thru many generations so far, I had to have a affidavit notarize with the story how I ended up with it.
What a pain in the butt the law here....
Once register my local gun shop can order ammo for it and give it back to me. So I can take it to the range and hopefully is fully functional. I am eager to get it back to start enjoying it and to shoot it.
Update: Found the original leather sling, found and extra front sight blade and an extra 1901 rear sight in another room in the house. So now I have a complete rifle. Don't know if that year and that rifle was issue a bayonet?? Anyone know? So I can start looking for it in the house.

Yes it takes a bayonet, they're generally not too expensive. Is your extra 1901 rear sight graduated to 2100yds by chance? (I had to ask Dick).

Yeah: Got my rifle back from the Police and the local government was very helpful in registering it. It took a little time but it was done and today i finish installing the rear sight, sling.
Now I just need ammunition for it so we can test fire it.
