Post by butlersrangers »

Krag cavalry carbines in use by the (U.S. trained and officered) Haitian Gendarmerie in 1916.

The U.S. administered Haiti from 1915 to 1934.

I 'spect those carbines are still in Haiti, 'tho maybe not in the best condition. Uncle Joe says our boys & girls ain't gonna go this time. Any bets? All those descendants of freed slaves will certainly get their acts together, won't they?

IIRC - The Haitian slaves rose up against their French masters in a bloody revolt.

The Haitians weren't freed by others. They fought to gain their own freedom.

Chaos, poverty, lack of education, violence, corruption, plenty of natural disasters and disease, does not make for a happy land.

The Haitian "uprising" was not a normal affair. They slaughtered every white and every light skinned black they got ahold of.
