New Market Value of M1896 Krag Carbine Rear Sight

Post by Whig »

So, now we know how much these things are worth on the current market.

M1896 Krag Carbine Rear Sight just sold on ebay for $1.005. More than I expected. I had a bid in for $110 just to follow the item. There were 10 individual bidders and 50 total bids. Looks correct and not even mint condition but that doesn't matter anymore for these rare items.

I'll bet the seller is cracking open a couple cold ones right now!

Whig used a decimal, when he intended a comma, on the model 1896 sight's selling price. It sold for $1,005!

I kept this model 1896 carbine sight on my ebay 'Watch List', just to see how much it would sell for.
I was expecting it would go for around $600. I am surprised at the price it brought!

(No intention of hijacking Whig's post):
Last week, I made a reasonable 'Buy Now' offer to the Vendor (of the model 1896 sight), on a model 1901 carbine sight.
I may have been one of the first people to notice his 'newly listed' 1901 sight. There were no bids and my offer was promptly accepted.
(It never hurts to ask)!
The Vendor acted quickly, in processing my purchase.
A legitimate, nicely operating, 1901 carbine sight arrived in my mailbox, last Saturday.

The Vendor was a gentleman in the transaction with me.
I am glad he did well on the model 1896 carbine sight auction.

$1,000+!!! Good grief, Charlie Brown. ALMOST makes my fingers reach for the screwdriver. Guess I have 4 or 5 but they're all attached to guns - have never seen a (genuine) loose one, in the flesh, at a gun show or other venue. There have been some horrible repros and bubbas made over the years.

That's a very nice 1901C, Chuck - good for you!
