Krag from Yankee Artifacts

Post by Mike4MSU »

Don’t suppose anyone from here picked up that GORGEOUS 1898 Krag rifle over the weekend. I think they were asking $1500. The ads already down and I only grabbed one photo, but clearly never sanded, beautiful cartouche, metal looked perfect and had the 1898 sight with peep hole.

The metal looks righteous.
It is probably just me, but the wood color looks a bit odd in that photo.

I think the owner uses a digital camera from 2000. Unlike a lot of what I see on GB, his photos usually look worse than reality. There were some other photos of the stock and cartouche, I think it was fine.

It looks like it has an Italian Walnut stock.
Bill Mook had a entire gun rack of them. All were pristine 1898’s with that type rear sight on them.

FWIW - Some Italian walnut stocks were 'stained' by units to darken and better match their other issued Krags.

I have a number of Krags but nothing as perfect as this one looks. $1500 is really a nice price if it really is as it appears. Where was it listed?

Thanks. I have never seen their website before. Nice Krag. I would have liked to see more pictures also. I checked the WayBackMachine but they didn't have an update for that week.
