OR said he owned a 1942 '03 with modified stock he wss considering trading for a Krag? I think if you'll check CMPs website his '03 is higher value than highly modified Krag even with a CMP stock on it.

S.B.: Thanks for the explanation. The thread had gotten pretty far away from the mention of the sporterized '03. IMHO, that 1899 Carbine looks pretty good with modifications that are correct during its service life. If it has a fine bore, the asking price seems fair. Hopefully, artyldr01 can swing a good deal on the 1899 Carbine, keep his '03, and take your advice and restore the '03 with a beautiful new CMP stock. I love it when a plan comes together!
