Re: 1916 Krag Rifle
Since your Norwegian Krag was probably a Norwegian Service Rifle until after WW2, it is likely it did not come into the U.S. until the 1950s or 1960s. There were lots of importers, many now defunct, during that era. I don't recall Import Stamps being required until the late 1980s. It would be unlikely for you to be able to track your rifle's import/sale by its serial #. Before 1968, surplus arms could be bought directly through the mail from importers, Sporting Goods Dealers, and Department Stores.
Re: 1916 Krag Rifle
Hi.
This krag were probebly as mentioned one of those surplus sold to US in 50'ies. By serial it were at IR4 (Infantery regiment 4) at the German invation of Norway. IR4 were the regiment for defence of Oslo. For several weeks IR 4 fought against the invation forces. Whether or not you krag were mobilized and partisipated is not possible to tell.
