Bannerman & Sedgley 'cross-over'

Post by butlersrangers »

A 'hybrid-sight' is on ebay, today. I think the seller has it accurately identified it as a Bannerman 'product'.

It appears to be a Krag, model 1898 (rifle sight) rear-base, bonded to a 1903 Springfield rear-sight collar, topped off with a 1903 (Rod-Bayonet) Springfield leaf.

I believe Sedgley may have actually done the work for Bannerman's.

Here's what the sight looks like:ImageImageImage

Here is a Bannerman model 1937 ('mutant') rifle with a similar sight. (In this example the base is from a Krag model 1902 sight and the slide from a model 1898 sight).

This sight also shows the Sedgley 'mark', so the work was likely done for Bannerman's N.Y. business by the Philadelphia firm (Sedgely).
