what is everyone using for ammo for there krag?

I handload mine. Cast and size my bullets.

I also have a good supply of FA 3/1907 ammunition that I use from time to time.

I handload for mine also, haven't found any commercial ammo available. Also, can't find .30-40 brass so I have been using .303 British cases (there is a thread about this).

I've got several hundred cases dating back to the mid sixties. I handload all my ammunition, mostly lead slugs. Two favorites come to mind: 173 Gr Lyman #311291 and 210 gr Lyman #311284. Both of these bullets are available on the 'net. Try: http://www.buffaloarms.com/browse.cfm/4,3603.html
There are others. My 311284 are cast by me.

However, I have a hog hunt lined up in Feb and I plan on using 220 grn Hornady Interlocks . It may be loafing at about 1800fps but that'll make 'em do the Jihad Jig w/sqeal. Bullet # is 3090 and available at Midway: http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=348088

Now, as far as new brass goes, you'll need to check with your local suppliers for the brass and for loaded ammunition. Winchester does do some runs from time to time. When you see it, buy it!

Last time I checked Remington offers a 180 gn Core-Lokt loading.

Whoops: I think "Needanswers" is looking for information on loading for the Norwegian Krag, 6.5 X 55. I've taken to buying the cheapo Swede ammo from Samco, pulling the bullet, and dumping about 20% of the powder charge. That drops the velocity to around 2,100 fps in the 29" barrel of my 1917 Krag rifle, and much less expensive than handloading from components. If I had a need to slay something other than paper with this rifle, I might load it up a bit faster, but I want to stay below 40,000 psi chamber pressure.

I've been using Lymans 311334 sized .311 gas checked.
It's about a 180 gr?. Very Looong nose which is great as it runs down that long tube. Also the nose measures .301-.302 so as she starts it's already rubbing the bore keeping her centered. And feeds just fine out of the magazine. I've had trouble w/311329 and it's point getting stuck on the ramp.

Don't know where the link is but here goes: Take .303 brass and run through a .30-40 full-length resizing die. Then load as you would if it were .30-40. There are some very minor differences in case wall thickness, neck thickness, etc., but the only significant difference is that the neck on the .30-40 is a good bit longer than on the .303. All this means is that your bullet will sit back a little further from the throat using the .303 brass than if using the Krag.
Basically, the only thing that is reformed when you resize with the Krag die is that the shoulder angle is changed slightly.
I load mine pretty light and have had no problem using .303 brass and have had excellent reliability and accuracy.
