Type 3 Carbine Barrel bands, M99

I found several barrel bands that might be from M99 carbines. The dimensions look good, the sideways U is stamped, but there is a machined groove cut into the top, perpendicular to the barrel. The groove is 11/32 wide and about 3/32 deep. Can this be a Type 3 barrel band?
