Another Krag has come up in Aussie and it is different again.
It is
A M98 Rifle
cartouched 1901
Has a 1901 rear sight
30 inch barrel
has a peep sight on the rear receiver with "lee pope patent" with an eagle head on the side.
the foresight had been changed to a target tunnel sight with a ghost ring foresight and the tunnel has 'pope' on it
On the R/H stock has US Army Atalantic 1901 stamped
has all the normal cartouches and proofing stamps.
condition looks like it has never been fired.
Blueing looks 100 per cent
timber looks 100 percent no dings or service wear and all cartouches are sharp and have no wear.
has the clearing rod and oiler again are in 100 per cent condition.
My question is, Is this just a private target rifle? or a military rifle team. i am negotiating with the owner re the puchase of the rifle and we are looking at 1800 Aust for it at the moment.
I will not be firing it as it perfect in every way including the bore and the bolt is tight and shows no wear.woukld appreciate any guidance from you kind gentlemen as this looks absolutely fantastic.
