Jim,
Try putting your serial number in at this link to see if they have more info about your rifle.

Re: Help Identitfing MY KRAG
Tom,
It would be interesting to know which parts, receiver and bolt, are numbered to the rifle.

Jim,
My email address is;
mod1892tjp@email.msn.com
Look forward to seeing them.
The internal parts on your rifle were numbered to the receiver on early production arms.
Gate, Sideplate, Carrier and Follower and maybe others.

Re: Help Identitfing MY KRAG
Jim,
After reading your description I gave the gun a "maybe.
After looking at the pics, I upgraded it "probably."
And, after you told me that the internal parts are numbered 285 and match the receiver SN, I want to congratulate you on having an original Model of 1892 rifle.
All that's missing is the ram rod. Good luck in finding an original.

Bill
I want to thank you for all the help and information you gave me.For me it has been fun finding out about this Krag. Again I can't thank you enough. I'll have to start looking for a cleaning rod, it just means more fun at garage sales, auctions and old gun shows.
Thanks for everything
