An American "Polar Bear", during The North Russia Campaign. He is armed with a Moisin and a McKeever cartridge box.

Lt. Parker Hitt with an 1897 Winchester and Mills Shotgun belt.
(During The Mindanao Moro Campaign, he headed the salvage of gun-boats, the Spaniards had scuttled, and employed the vessels in driving Moro War Lords out of their Lake Lanao fortifications).

I especially like the 'Tactical SOCOM Black Ops Lanyard retention system' utilized by the gentleman shouldering the carbine.

Interesting reading concerning how the US government acquired Mosin Nagants and employed their use during the AEFs Polar Bear expedition... and some folks thought that government bailouts where a recent phenomenon. Here's a bit of Polar Bear history being offered for a cool $10,500:

'Local Boy' - I believe you are correct on the Maxim-Nordenfeldt.

As to the Chinese Bandit 'Leader' with the carbine and Nagant revolver .... whether Black Op or Sock Hop ... he just better watch his step!
I don't think those are pinecones on the ground.
(BTW - The rifles in the photo may be model 1871/84 Mauser repeaters).

The 'Siberian Campaign' items, in your link, are awesome, but, from the wrong end of Revolutionary Russia. The Moisin armed GI's were landed at Archangel, North Russia, on the White Sea.

The force landed at Vladivostok, in the Pacific, brought their Springfield rifles.

Both American forces came to be called Polar Bears.
